This week for our challenge in hommage to Tim holtz I am takink a bow to Jean-Paul Gaultier who is in Montreal by creating this dress with the "faux batik" technique. To know more about this process I refer you to Tim Holtz's blog.
This technique is fantastic because it allows us to juxtapose pale colors of ink to darker ones. It is a sort of printing process. I love to see the rich yellow (Mustard Seed) side with the deep blue (Broken China) on a same plane. The Eiffel Tower stamp (Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymus) seemed appropriate to salute our great fashion designer from Paris.
The top of the dress is made of fringed tissue paper, the belt is made of fuzzy fur and a piece of white ribbon tinted with distress ink. I think Tim's white ribbon is a basic product , a must have just like the inks themselves. I added a little lace border to the skirt and a few of my metal trinkets come from my stash of little treasures. I dressed the foot of the mannequin with tissue tape (Tim Holtz).
